Your Personalised Surgical Pathway
Data-led decision support for Inguinal Hernia repair.
Choosing the right surgical technique is not a matter of "preference"—it is a matter of clinical precision.
I utilize the European Hernia Society (EHS) guidelines to tailor the approach to your specific anatomy, surgical history, and lifestyle. Whether it is a first-time hernia or a complex recurrence, our goal is the same: a robust, safe repair with the fastest possible return to performance.
How to use this tool: This tool provides a guideline‑based recommendation to help you understand which surgical approach may be appropriate based on your hernia history and anatomy. It does not replace a clinical examination.
This tool is for educational purposes only and does not provide a medical diagnosis or replace clinical consultation.
Surgical Technique Matcher
Using European Hernia Society (EHS) guidelines to identify the most appropriate clinical pathway for your scenario.
A Note on Clinical Nuance: While this algorithm identifies the most likely pathway based on international guidelines, surgery is an art as much as a science. During your physical examination, we will finalize this plan to ensure it accounts for every detail of your health and recovery goals.
A Note on Minimally Invasive Precision: TEP vs. TAPP: Not all keyhole surgery is the same. I am trained in both TEP (Totally Extraperitoneal) and TAPP (Transabdominal Preperitoneal) techniques. While TEP is often my preferred 'extraperitoneal' approach—avoiding entry into the abdominal cavity entirely—I select the specific method based on which offers you the highest margin of safety and the most robust mesh placement for your unique anatomy.
